RESEARCH

Unleashing the Full Potential of Breath Metabolomics to Advance Precision Medicine

Generate HYPOTHESIS

Our interdisciplinary team work coordinately to generate working hypotheses to address our clinical questions

design the experiment

Together with our clinical colleagues we design the right experiment to answer our research questions

measure

We use state-of-the-art high resolution-mass spectrometry to map the exhaled metabolome of our patients

analyze

We use sophisticated bioinformatic tools to decode complex datasets.

validate

Our results are further validated and generate further hypotheses to advance answering our research questions.

ONGOING PROJECTS

DEVELOPMENT OF STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES FOR REPRODUCIBLE REAL-TIME BREATH ANALYSIS

In this project we develop the necessary procedures to ensure the highest data quality possible, enabling multi-center studies.

THERAPEUTIC DRUG MONITORING GUIDED BY BREATH ANALYSIS

The objective in this project is to optimize the therapeutic regimen of pediatric patients to maximize efficacy and minimize side effects.

DECIPHERING THE IMPACT OF AIR POLLUTION EXPOSURE FOR THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

In this project we combine air pollution models, state-of-the-art lung function tests and our breath metabolomics approach to better understand the detrimental effects of air pollution exposure in children.

RAPID DIAGNOSIS OF INFECTIOUS RESPIRATORY DISEASES BY BREATH ANALYSIS

Our objective is to diagnose infectious diseases, with a focus on pneumonia, by combining our high resolution/high mass accuracy real-time breath analysis technology combined with Artificial Intelligence to provide a positive/negative response within 15 minutes.
